Launch Event: SUPER VISION, October 6, 2016.

With the presentation of the first five candidates entitled SUPER VISION we celebrated the launch of the starting cycle of the newly established Artistic Research PhD Programme at the Angewandte. At the same time, we presented the new location of Zentrum Fokus Forschung at the historical site of Heiligenkreuzer Hof in the very heart of Vienna.

Rector Gerald Bast and Alexander Damianisch, head of Zentrum Fokus Forschung, welcomed the candidates and their supervisors, among them Prof. Ruth Schnell and Prof. Jan Svenungsson. We were also happy that nearly the whole Executive Board of the Society for Artistic Research and Vice-Rector Barbara Putz-Plecko attended the event. It was a great opportunity to introduce the cornerstones of the new Artistic Research PhD Programme. Guest professor Nikolaus Gansterer then invited the candidates to outline the research projects they will be pursuing in the course of the next three years; a variety of outlines, challenging pathways ensuring curious journeys for everybody involved.

The discussion with the audience expanded upon the practice of artistic research and the possibilities for programmes such as the Artistic Research PhD Programme at the Angewandte to support the candidate’s endeavours.

We would like to thank all the participants and guests for their input and support. Our warm thanks also extend to everyone at the Angewandte who helped turn Zentrum Fokus Forschung into a reality over the last weeks and months.
