The role of the Zentrum Fokus Forschung is to support and develop new artistic and scientific practices, focusing on curiosity and exploration. We provide activities, spaces, and time for in-depth research practice and participatory reflection, both in a contemporary and topical manner. Based on and related to the thematic and methodological diversity of all fields and positions developed at the Angewandte and in its context, projects in art and science pave the way for and create an integrative environment.

In this sense, the Zentrum also serves as the central location for accompanying the focused and structured doctoral programmes of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Engaged internal project potentials at the Angewandte, cooperations as well as innovative transversal research labs contribute to the instrumental experience and design, perception and reflection of the perpetually new. The Zentrum Fokus Forschung takes an interest in new topics and forms: Everyone is invited to contribute with their research, arts and scholarship, as we learn best from each other in a research-driven way.
